Treatments | NuCalm

Fabulous new, all natural system for people who are nervous visiting the dentist. No sedatives, no side-effects, The London Centre for Cosmetic Dentistry launches the first UK non sedative calming system called NuCalm.

By mimicking the natural process of readying the body for sleep, NuCalm provides the same deep relaxation every person feels moments before they fall asleep. Because there is no sedation or side effects it is much safer; and you don't need someone to help you to get home because once the treatment stops so do the effects of NuCalm.

Developed by neuroscientists in the U.S., it works by bringing high beta brain waves (23Hz -40Hz), which are associated with fear, to alpha brain waves (8Hz-12Hz) which are those associated with meditation and sleep. Plus you feel great afterwards, as it helps the brain to tell your muscles to relax. It is a similar feeling to having just had a body massage!

Treatments | Invisalign®

InvisalignIf you've ever thought about how improving your smile could help you feel more confident, Invisalign® might be for you. Known as the invisible brace, Invisalign can help to treat a variety of orthodontic concerns including crooked, crowded or teeth with gaps, but because it is clear, removable and comfortable, it won't interfere with your life.

The Invisalign® technique is a clinically proven, nearly invisible way to straighten your teeth and improve your smile - without fixed braces. The Invisalign® treatment works through a series of removable and nearly invisible aligners. Each aligner is slightly different, moving your teeth gradually into the desired position to give you the beautiful smile you have always wanted!

FAQ's

Is it really invisible?

The aligners are made from clear plastic, so they are almost nearly invisible. Even when very close, most people will not notice - unless you tell them!

Will it work for me?

If you have all your adult teeth, most patients can be treated with Invisalign even if they have crowns or bridges. Many common issues like crooked or crowded teeth, spaces between teeth and certain overbite and crossbite types can successfully be corrected.

How do I get started?

At your initial complimentary consultation, we discuss your goals for a new smile. Next we plan your full treatment together and take impressions and photographs. With advanced computer technology we can then show you a model of how your smile will look before you start your treatment.

How long does the treatment take?

Depending on difficulty, most treatments will take 12-18 months.

How long do I have to wear the aligners?

The aligners should be worn for 20 to 22 hours a day for the best results. Every 2 weeks you change to a new aligner and we recommend a check up every 6-8 weeks.

Can I eat and drink with my aligners?

No. The aligners are removable so you can still enjoy your favourite food and drinks.

Do the aligners hurt?

It is normal that you may feel temporary discomfort when you wear the aligners for the first few days. The smooth aligners are not harmful to the inside of your mouth, but you do feel pressure and this is a good sign that the aligners are working.

Treatments | Teeth Whitening

Watch Stacey Solomon's Teeth Whitening Watch the X-Factor Twins' Teeth Whitening

The Thermal Diffuser is the latest and best tooth whitening system in the UK and not only is it super effective, but it is fast, gentle on your teeth and usually takes no longer than 50 minutes.

With just five 10 minute cycles, your teeth can be swiftly and safely whitened giving results that are not only dramatic, but long lasting as well. Currently the most technologically advanced system in the UK, it causes far less sensitivity than other whitening treatments and is fast, effective and pain free due to three revolutionary new concepts:

  • The thermal diffuser contains a purer form of whitening gel and so it gets to work a lot quicker and removes stains more effectively
  • It contains an organic activator which enhances the stain removal efficacy
  • It uses light and warmth to stimulate the gel and this combination is proving to be the most effective and comfortable for the patient

Treatments | Fresh Breath

If you...

...think you have bad breath or have been told

...notice that your gums bleed easily or there is a bad taste in your mouth

Bad breath is experienced by most people at some time in their lives, and 30% of the population suffer from chronic bad breath called Halitosis, which can affect your every day life and confidence.

• Poor oral hygiene
• Gingivitis/Periodontitis
• Ill fitting crowns and poorly designed bridgework
• Cracked, leaking and over hanging fillings
• Poorly cleaned dentures
• Other causes can include food, drink, fasting, smoking and general morning breath

Treatments | Gum Re-shaping

Gums frame the teeth - healthy, well-contoured gums compliment your teeth and smile and are as important to the teeth as a quality frame is to a painting.

Sometimes all that may be required, is to contour the gum tissue to give a more balanced appearance. At The London Centre for Cosmetic Dentistry we are able to perform a cosmetic gum lift, which is a remarkably simple cosmetic procedure that can make a tremendous difference to someone's smile.

Treatments | White Fillings

New technological advancements in dentistry allows us to do white, natural tooth coloured fillings. These mercury free composite fillings integrate with the tooth and are used for restoring decay and cosmetic improvements. Plus, they do not weaken the tooth as a silver filling would do.

If you would like to find out more please call the practice on 020 7722 1235 or email us at info@londoncosmeticdentistry.co.uk to arrange a complimentary consultation.

Treatments | Cosmetic Contouring & Bonding

Cosmetic Bonding

Cosmetic bonding is often a quick and easy course of action with impressive results. Bonding can repair chips, close spaces, change the tooth colour and accomplish minor teeth straightening.

The composite resin is bonded and sculpted to change your smile within minutes and hardened to a tooth enamel like strength with a special dental laser. Lastly your teeth are polished and a natural and beautiful smile is created.

Cosmetic Contouring

Cosmetic contouring is the simplest of all cosmetic dental procedures. In this process we delicately reshape the teeth and pay particular attention to the edges of the six upper and lower front teeth, creating a more pleasing smile. This is a great treatment if you don't need veneers, but feel that your smile needs softening.

If you would like to find out more please call the practice on 020 7722 1235 or email us at info@londoncosmeticdentistry.co.uk to arrange a complimentary consultation.

Treatments | General Dentistry

As well as being a cosmetic practice we are also a general dentist too and we offer a full range of treatments. Crowns, bridges, root canal treatment, composite and porcelain fillings are done to the highest standards. Co-founder of the practice Dr Ken Spektor is an expert in restorative dentistry and endodontics. Many patients and indeed dentists attend our practice for their routine dental requirements. Everyone coming for care to our practice has a full and thorough dental examination.

The key to retaining teeth for life is the health of the gums. Our hygienists are superbly trained in helping patients achieve this. People coming to the practice have their gums thoroughly examined as part of our dental examination and a programme is developed, tailor-made for them to achieve optimal oral health.

Treatments | Oral Cancer Examination

Did you know?

• Mouth cancer kills one person every five hours in the UK
• In the UK, mortality rate is just over 50% despite treatment and this is because of late detection
• Mouth cancers have a higher proportion of deaths per number of cases than breast cancer, cervical cancer or skin melanoma
• If treated early, nine out of ten cases are curable
• It is more common in men over 40. However, research has shown that mouth cancer is becoming more common in younger patients especially in women
• It is on the increase

Here at The London Centre for Cosmetic Dentistry we perform a mouth cancer screening in every general examination. Many mouth cancers go undetected in their very early stages, as they are almost invisible to the untrained eye, therefore it is vitally important that you have regular check ups at your dentist. If caught early, nine out of ten cases are curable.

Treatments | Hygiene

Here at The London Centre for Cosmetic Dentistry we like to think that we have the healthiest smiles in London. Not only do we believe and promote an excellent oral hygiene programme, but our onsite hygienists Bernita, Desi and Kate have over 15 years experience and qualified from the prestigious Guy's Dental Hospital and the internationally renowned Eastman Dental School. So they will definitely be able to tell if you are fibbing about your flossing! When you come to our practice for a hygiene appointment we also include a plaque score. This is where we are able to determine areas of the mouth that are being missed in your at home dental care; and we are then able to give you specific oral hygiene guidance to meet your at home dental needs.

Our goal is to ensure you maintain optimum dental health and to keep you smiling throughout your life, therefore we recommend that you visit your hygienist at least three times a year. Dental home care is essential, but it's not enough and in order to maintain a healthy mouth you need to visit the hygienist regularly. Without regular visits, the chance of periodontal disease increases, resulting in deterioration of your teeth, bone and gum tissues. We whole heartedly believe prevention is better than cure and regular trips to the hygienist can save you future discomfort and expensive dental treatment.

Recent research has shown that gum disease can kill more than just your smile. The bacteria produced by gum disease travels into your blood stream and can cause strokes, heart disease, diabetes, premature births and other chronic health problems; so when you are looking after gums you are also looking after your whole health.

Bernita, Desi and Kate like to follow the three P's in their work:

Prevent

Prevention is better than cure! Regular check-ups and hygiene appointments unlock the secrets to maintaining a healthy and youthful smile.

Protect

A startling 84% of patients never continue their dental home care, therefore risking gum disease, unsightly receding gums, eventual tooth loss and possibly a chronic health problem. Here at The London Centre for Cosmetic Dentistry we will show you the perfect home care regime and then motivate you regularly.

Perfect

Our hygienists are also qualified to do the cosmetic treatment of teeth whitening. However, you will be amazed at how great your teeth will look and feel after a good clean and polish from ourselves!
